The maturation of librarianship as a profession and science in Serbia after World War II

The aim of the paper is to present development librarianship in Serbia period after Second World War until today, when there a sudden professionalization and through institutionalized education grows into recognized social humanities science. Based on hitherto insufficiently known little used archival material, professional competent staff highlighted as precondition for library It was noticed that under review, developed rapidly. Special merits initially belong Serbian Library Association, then Department Librarianship Information Science at Faculty Philology, University Belgrade. combines both historical current efforts improve keep up with sciences postmodern society.
